Easy A

Rated: PG13
Starring: Emma Stone, Amanda Bynes, etc.
Review by: Sherri
This movie is the story of a good highschool girl, who uses a rumor that isn't true, to advance socially. Ok. I don't have much to say about this film. I am typically not really a "Chick-Flick" kinda girl, but I do occasionally like a good one. This, was simply NOT a good one. The acting (excluding Emma Stone) was so-so, and the plot was just annoying. Despite the fact that I simply did not enjoy this movie, it did get a suprising 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. Some critics are saying it is a combination between Clueless and Mean Girls, (both of which I LOVED) but I don't see it. Amanda Bynes was a great "mean girl" and Emma Stone did a pretty good job despite the fact that her character was boring; She did shine through in a couple of funny moments.

The Town

Directed by:Ben Affleck
Starring: Ben Affleck, John Hamm, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall, Blake Lively
Rated R
Review by: Sherri

This movie was co-written, and directed by none other than Ben Affleck. It is based on the novel "Prince of Thieves" by Chuck Hogan. It takes Place in Boston and is about a group of bank robbers. All I can say is wow, the acting in this movie is spectacular! Ben Affleck himself is great. I have has some issues with his acting in the past, like in Good Will Hunting, but he has really impressed me with this one. Rebecca Hall, who I first saw in
Please Give, was great too. Jeremy Renner was just.....insane, his character shows resemblences to his character in The Hurt Locker. Jon Hamm,(my favorite Mad Men character!) plays the FBI agent who is trying to catch these crazy thieves. All in all I really liked this movie, it is one I would definitely recommend, and see again.

Nate & Sherri's TOP 7 of 2010!

Nate and I thought we would start our fist post with a list of our favorite movies of 2010 so far. They're listed in no particular order. We originally were going to do a separate top five list for each of us, but we ended up picking the same movies, except for two. So Read on and comment if you want!

TOP SEVEN MOVIES OF TWENTY-TEN (so far...)

WINTER'S BONE: This movie premiered at Sundance Film Fest 2010. It is the story of a girl, taking care of her family in the Ozarks. One of the best dramas we have seen!

TOY STORY 3: Ok. We don't think this one needs an explanation, Pixar won us over again! We loved it. There couldn't be a better end to a great story.

CYRUS: This movie was a romantic comedy of sorts, starring Marissa Tomei, John C. Reilly, and Jonah Hill. This movie has its dramatic parts, and its hilarious parts. All-together a fun show!

Daddy Long-Legs: We saw this film at Sundance 2010. It was a fun movie about a dad in the 70's who doesn't know how to parent. It is the story of him taking care of his kids over an extended period of time. It was funny, but at the same time sad. It was filmed to look like a movie from the 70's. Awesome!

INCEPTION: Leonardo DiCaprio at in one of the coolest films we have ever seen! Chistopher Nolan did a great job of writing, and directing this wild ride. Marion Cotillard (Oscar for Best Actress 2008) was wonderful. Definitely one movie to see more than once.

EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP: This "documentary" was so interesting! It takes you to the land of street artists, and the world that they create. Banksy
directed this.

BURIED: this was a SUNDANCE gem. Ryan Reynolds (what a fox by the way) in 94 minutes of pure terror. No other way to describe it. Reynolds is brilliant in this film, its a role we wouldn't expect him to be in.
